Law on elimination of violence against women to remain enforced
In meeting of cabinet’s laws committee the other day, a number of members of Afghan women Network presented their suggestions on independently enacting of law on eradication of violence against women from panel code, which was approved by the meeting.
Members of the women network said much have so far been done by the government on women rights, an action which is appreciable to Afghanistan women rights advocate organizations.
They said that it was merit to mention that based on article 7 of criminal code, “No punishment would be implemented unless it is clarified within the law.”
Afterward, expressing satisfied over the network’s efforts on women rights, second vice president stressed that as the government of Afghanistan was committed before citizens and international community, it is decisive to follow and strengthen the women civil rights in the country.
Concerns over increasing violence against Afghan women have raised recently in the country. Violence cases as murder, torture, hitting, kangaroo court and others are examples of incidents that have increased year by year in Afghanistan.
Previously, reports had been released that violence against Afghan women have increased by 25% during the past year in Afghanistan. Ministry of women affairs and Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission have informed of registration of hundreds of violence-related cases and expressed their deep concerns in this regard.
