Sustainable power outage concerning
A number of Kabul citizens are complaining over power outages and its successive cut off in their areas, as they say over the last one month, they have faced with many electricity problems.
According to The Kabul Times, head of Kabul power department, Rahman said, “Kabul has changed into a most-populated province, where any of its family needs power. Kabul standard power level is insufficient for the current population.”
Installation of air-conditioners in Kabul is the main reason behind power outages, particularly in the capital Kabul, he further said, adding we have to apply successive power outages in order the substations are not damaged.
“I expect the Kabul residents to reduce their power consumptions and it would be better if they don’t use air-conditioners in their houses,” he went on to say.
On those government and nongovernment organizations who are owed of Breshna Company, Rahman said, “We have organized many conferences at the presidential palace and I personally handed over the list of those who haven’t paid their power bills.”
The number of those didn’t pay their power bills reaches to 173, among whom, a number of powerful figures have fortunately paid their loans.
On Kabul residents’ complaints on their power consumptions’ high bills, he said there was a witness between us and the customer names meters—a device which never makes mistake. If the meters are faced with technical damages, we have a lab where they are being checked and controlled, he continued.  On analogue meters, he said Afghanistan was the only country where analogue meters were still being used. The analogue meters have many problems, but the digitals ones don’t, he said.
The people should control their power consumptions, so they don’t face with power outages, he said.
More than four billion dollars have, to date, been spent on Afghanistan’s power infrastructure. And yet there are still considerable deficiencies, even in the capital Kabul, which has seen most of the investment—and most of the progress. At the same time, the demand for electricity is rapidly growing and supply-demand gap has widened.
This is while that many agreements on power situation improvements have been signed over the last years, but still the people are seriously faced with lack of power, therefore it is hoped the problems is solved soon. .
