Dialogue best solution to ongoing problems before E-ID cards
Nowadays, the issue of distribution of electronic ID cards changed into controversial issue and caused delay to the process.
In a general session held on Saturday in lower house of the parliament, lawmakers once again discussed the issue.
A number of lawmakers called illegal the decision taken by members of joint committee on draft amendment of law on population registration and stressed that Wolesi Jirga should once again discuss about it in a general session and then decide in this regard.
But a number of them have resisted that the decision is legal—a difference in view which caused them stand against each other and an action which is not in the benefit of the country considering status quo.
However, the time to officially start distribution of electronic ID cards has already been specified and it was expected the process to be started last week with the distribution of first electronic ID card to the president.
But unfortunately, the process postponed due to controversial discussions among the lawmakers.
This comes as Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah has recently said that distribution of E-ID cards would not begin unless the problems on citizens’ identity is tackled.
In fact, distribution of electronic ID cards would solve many problems the government and people are suffering today and good governance would be bolstered as well as the ground would be prepared for holding a transparent and fair election.
Therefore, all problems should be solved through negotiations and dialogue.
Afghanistan’s national assembly represents the people of Afghanistan and is recognized as the highest law-making authority, therefore, it should legally and principally solve such problems and don’t let the opportunists benefit avail the opportunity.
Unity, cohesion and solidarity among the people of Afghanistan are the strongest and most effective weapon against the sworn-in-enemies, thus, Afghans should never disunite, and if they do, they would never be able to build their country.
