Conference on Security & Sustainable Development insists on peace & joint counter terrorism effort in region
 International Conference on Security and Sustainable Development in Central Asia was held in Samarkand on November 10 – 11 with participation of foreign affairs ministers of five Central Asian countries including Afghanistan including, high level officials of the UN, EU, SCO, CIS, delegations of various world countries. 
In the conference, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Policy, Federica Mogherini in her speech focused on counter international terrorism and stressed on efforts towards peace and tranquility in Afghanistan. The EU envoy also insisted on supporting Afghanistan efforts for peace and creating regional consensus.
In sideline of the conference, Afghanistan foreign affairs minister Salahuddin Rabbani also met withSenior Director for South and Central Asia at the White House National Security Council, Lisa Curtis and Tajik minister of foreign affairs. In meeting between Rabbani and Ms. Curtis, holding elections in Afghanistan, political and security situations, peace talks and regional consensus were discussed.
According to Shekib Mustaghni, a spokesperson to ministry of foreign affairs, Afghanistan high-level delegation participated in the conference and hoped that the conference could result in strengthening regional consensus, expansion of regional economical convergence and  joint effort in counter terrorism and common threats in the region and minister of foreign affairs also focused and stressed on the respective points. 
In the conference, Federica Mogherini, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy by pointing to security and stability in the region stressed on importance of security of Central Asian countries for EU that is strategic partner of Central Asia in sustainable development, protection of environment, climate changes and human rights.
Participants in the conference supported initiatives aimed at backing the peace process in Afghanistan, promoting the reconstruction of socio-economic infrastructures, more active integration of the country into global economic networks. In this regard, the high importance of implementing energy, transport-communications, investment and other projects by the Central Asian countries in cooperation with Afghanistan was stressed. 
It is said that Afghanistan minister of foreign affairs attended the conference at a time when a spokesperson of the ministry informed of official visit of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani to Uzbekistan in near future, saying that 16 memorandums of understanding would be signed between the two countries during the visit of President Ghani.
It is also worth mentioning that the two-day conference aimed at discussing two issues such as cooperation of the UN and United Nations Development Program with regional countries under the title of “Regional security, cooperation in water and ecology sections” as well as “expansion of regional cooperation in Central Asia”.
