Following US National Security Advisor visit to Afghanistan, a number of National Assembly members said that the government should satisfy President Trump to further equip the Afghan air force.
U.S. National Security Advisor, McMaster arrived in Kabul on Sunday to review the country’s security situation, during which he met with leaders of the National Unity Government (NUG).
A number of National Assembly members asked the NUG leaders to satisfy the US national security advisor on further equipping of the Afghan security forces.
A lawmaker, Mohammad Hussain Fahimi said, the US officials visit to Afghanistan would be fruitful while the government could satisfy them to further strengthen and equip the Afghan security forces in particular the air force.
He added the new US government has not still declared its final policy on Afghanistan and McMaster’s trip to the country could be crucial in the respect.
Afghanistan’s security situation won’t change unless the US supports the Afghan air force, he further said.
Another MP, Mowlavi Ahmadullah said he doubted on US intention on ensuring security in the country.
He added if the U.S. acts according to the security agreement, thus, its officials visit could be effective, but still, it has not practiced its commitments mentioned in the treaty.
A senator, Hasibullah Kalimzai said the US McMaster’s visit could be a good opportunity for further equipping of the Afghan security forces particularly the air force.
He added if the US wants to succeed in fighting terrorism in Afghanistan, it should impose political pressures on Pakistan so it stops supporting terrorism.
If the government of Afghanistan couldn’t satisfy the US in this regard, the country would turn to world powers political competitions’ battleground, he went on to say.
He stressed that the government should ask the US national security advisor so his country stops Afghan war at any cost.
Afghans believe that the US hasn’t still sincerely stepped up in war on terror in Afghanistan, adding if the government could satisfy the US officials, US can either equip the Afghan air force or defeat terrorism at its earliest.
A university lecturer, Najibullah Mahmoud said, “Some parts of the country are still insecure and the people of Afghanistan ask the US new government to be honest with them and equip the Afghan security forces against Taliban, Daesh and other terrorist groups.”
US should take honest steps in war on terror in Afghanistan or the security situation would get worsened by each passing day, he added.
