President Ghani congratulates start of voters’ registration process

 KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in a video conference the other day instructed governors, ANA corps commanders, police zones’ commanders, provincial police chiefs, provincial NDS chiefs and provincial directors of electoral commissions for better execution of voters’ registration process of upcoming parliamentary and district councils elections.
In the conference, Gula Jan Abdul Badi, head of Independent Election Commission said that the commission has accelerated its works so the elections be held in a better and transparent way, adding that the process of voting registration would begin today.
Head of the commission further said that the process would begin first in provincial cities and later in districts and villages and would take two months. 
He asked civil and military officials for participation in the process.
Afterwards, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani while congratulating the start of the process considered elections as key principle in democracy. He added that elections and registration of voters were valuable and had particular position among the people.
The country’s President instructed provincial governors to participate in the process and convince the people for participation in the national process and cooperate with the IEC.
He also ordered security organs to effectively implement security plan and fully cooperate for transparently holding the elections.    
 According to another report, President Ghani in a separate meeting attended by chief executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, IEC chief Gula Jan Abdul Badi, a number of ministers and high-ranking government officials, ambassadors and representatives of political parties expressed happiness over development in work of Independent Elections Commission.
Participatns in the meeting discussed development in work of the commission as well as preparations for parliamentary and district councils elections.
