First Afghanistan-Uzbekistan joint security commission’s meeting held

 KABUL: The first session of joint security commission between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan was held yesterday in Tashkent, capital city of Uzbekistan.
In the meeting, both sides discussed mutual cooperation between the two countries, cooperation on combat against terrorism and restoration of stability in the region. According to a press statement from National Security Council (NSC), in the meeting, Afghanistan National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar and his Uzbek counterpart Victor Mohammadov agreed on creating implementing programs for management of the joint commission’s affairs.  Besides stressing on expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, both sides regarded peace and implementation of long-term development projects as key for stability and security of the region. Both sides also discussed counterterrorism effort, prevention of narcotics and drug-trafficking and stressed on institutionalizing coordination and cooperation for improvement of security and stability in the region.  The joint security commission between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan has been created for mutual cooperation and consolidation of security and stability in the region during recent visit of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani to Uzbekistan.
