US, Russia should cooperate with Afghanistan in war on terror, CE

US, Russia should cooperate with Afghanistan in war on terror, CE
 KABUL: Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah met with US Acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affair, Ms. Alice Wells at his office on Monday, Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) reported.
Pointing at his recent trip to Shanghai summit and meeting regional countries’ leaders, CE Abdullah said Shanghai member states particularly Russia promised to cooperate with the US in fighting terrorism in Afghanistan, according to the agency.  
He urged the U.S. and Russia to cooperate with Afghanistan in war on terror, BNA added. 
CE Abdullah once again stressed on targeting terrorists’ hideouts and their funding sources, adding after declaring US strategy on Afghanistan and south Asia, no change has so far been appeared in Pakistan’s policies, the agency continued. 
“Pakistan should honestly cooperate with Afghanistan in peace talks and annihilation of terrorists’ hideouts,” Dr. Abdullah added.
Likewise, CE Abdullah said the government was committed to hold the presidential and parliamentary elections in 2019, BNA said.
US acting assistant secretary of states said her country was ready to cooperate with Russia in fighting terrorism in Afghanistan.
Pointing at U.S. secretary of defense visit to Islamabad, Ms. Wells said Pakistan has not only taken necessary steps on fighting insurgents, but it also released Hafez Sayeed, the leader of Lashkar-e-Tayiba.
The US asks Pakistan to bring changes in its policies and honestly step up in war on terror, she added.
