Corrupts should be brought to justice even authorities
Media reported that top members Wolesi Jirga have been accused of misusing money and some others of breaking into the document room and taking away some house’s secrets.
A commission was set up to assess the cases, under which, some had been asked for returning the money of up to 5.3 million Afghanis, while the others to be suspended of attending the house’s daily meeting for 10 to 15 days.
The term of the house of people has been extended for months more as the government believed soon holding of the next round of the process impossible, at a sensitive time, when it wanted to reform the insider entity of the system.
Illegal appointment by the house members both inside the house and by pressuring the ministers, was not something had only defamed both the house and the cabinet, but caused wide corruption in the government institutions.
Lawmakers who are the main sources of legislation and the key to issue rule, but, when they themselves are polluted with corruption, then how could reform the ordinary officials and those who are not abided by the law.
If there was a rule to dissolve the house after emerging to be involved in any fault then, there was no need of such a house with corrupt members.
According to reports, embezzlement by the speaker of the house and other illegalities by some other key house members were not something to be ignored, but the cases should be taken to the legal sources for more investigation and the perpetrators should be enquired publicly.
But, the special commission designed to assess the cases resolved that the speaker should return the money used in personal expenses and those committed other illegalities, should be suspended from attending the house’s meetings for certain days. This is incorrect if was sufficed, but they, like many others should be brought to justice.
The next round of elections should be held transparently and those who had done nothing for the people or have committed various trespasses should not be allowed to nominate themselves in the upcoming process.
The Independent Election Commission (IEC) has the authority to ban corrupt officials either in the government or in the house.
As seen, in the last many years of parliament work, and extension of more years, nothing had been witnessed as a positive change in the people condition, rather they fallen into critical situation of poverty.
So, the government shouldn’t remain incompetent about the scandalous condition of the house of people as don’t let the so-called lawmakers to misuse the people votes.
Finally a transparent election can only tackle the problems and prevent increase in the corruption cases, particularly within the house of people.
