Joint quadrilateral committee to review political parties’ election plan holds session

KABUL: Chaired by second vice president Sarwar Danesh, the first session of joint quadrilateral committee to review political parties’ election plan was held with participation of representatives of political parties, electoral commissions, international community and government.
In the meeting held based on instruction of presidential office, a plan which has been delivered by political parties regarding the elections was reviewed and assessed. The elections plan has been recently delivered by a number of political parties to the government.
In the plan, change of elections system from Single Non-Transferable Vote (SNTV) to a Multi-Dimensional Representation (MDR) system, using of biometric technology and effectively monitoring the election by political parties and civil society have been suggested.
In the first meeting of the committee, the plan was reviewed and discussed and members of the committee delivered their visions regarding the plan.
Considering holding fair, transparent and timely elections as demand of the people of Afghanistan, second vice president added the government was ready to review the elections plan delivered by political parties.
