75 commissioners’ list approved

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has approved a list of 75 provincial election commissioners to scrutinize complaints, an official said Saturday.
The list of commissioners had been approved by the president and sent to the Independent Election Commission (IEC), a presidential spokesman, Shah Hussain Mortazwi confirmed in an interview with Pajhwok Afghan News.
IEC Spokesman, Ali Reza Rohani also confirmed that the list of provincial commissioners to hear complaints has been dispatched to the commission but they had not still received it.
According to him, 27 provincial commissioners’ appointments had previously been approved and the remaining had been named and would be sent to provinces soon, the agency said.
These commissioners will scrutinize complaints before sending them to the central headquarters for a final decision thereon, according to the agency.
