President Ghani talks on peace with US’s Pence via telephone

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and US Vice-President Mike Pence discussed the security situation including Eid-al-Fitr ceasefire, The Office of The President said in a statement referring to its official website, the other day.

Mike Pence spoke with President Ghani over the telephone and renewed his country’s support to an Afghan led peace process and the upcoming elections and laid emphasize on joint war on terror, according to the presidential press office.

The president also thanked him of his country’s continued support to peace process and said the people of Afghanistan have found that peace was the only option and they had had to have important decisions for reaching the process.

Pence also said the US would support the Afghan government peace resolution, according to the statement.
